Recommended body maintenance kit

Maintaining your body is the same as maintaining any other equipment or tools - except you don’t take the rest of your equipment home at the end of the day. By regularly taking steps to look after your body, you will reduce your injury risk, alleviate aches and pains, and even increase your performance.

Foam Roller

Foam rollers are a self-massage tool you can use anywhere on your body. When choosing your foam roller these rules apply:

  • The firmer the foam roller, the more direct the pressure and intense the sensation

  • Spikey rollers can make it harder to target direct areas, but can work well used in conjunction with other tools.

Use for: self-massage, tension relief, relaxation.

Massage Peanut

Massage peanuts are the smaller, more direct cousin of the foam roller. They make it easier to target smaller muscle groups and are generally more precise. They can produce more sensation than a foam roller, but are much smaller and easier to transport.

Use for: self-massage, tension relief, relaxation, targeting muscle groups that are hard to reach with a foam roller.

Massage Ball

Massage balls are very similar to the peanut, but can be used more easily against a wall. This allows you to vary the pressure applied more easily on particularly sensitive areas.

Use for: self-massage, tension relief, relaxation, targeting muscle groups that are hard to reach with a foam roller, self-massage using the wall - particularly on the upper back.

Resistance bands

Resistance bands allow you to use and activate specific muscle groups without carrying bulky weights or other exercise equipment. They range from rehab-focused low resistance therabands, to full-body supporting RubberBanditz.

Use for: strengthening, muscle activation, pre-hab, re-hab.
